A Strategic Website Redevelopment for a Lakeside Restaurant

1886 Lake House Bistro

The Challenge

1886 Lake House Bistro had an established Squarespace 7.0 website, but it no longer reflected the quality of the restaurant or the experience guests could expect when dining on the shores of Lake Nipissing.

As the business evolved, the website became increasingly difficult to navigate, with important information spread across multiple pages and a structure that no longer supported the needs of today's visitors. The goal was to create a modern website that felt inviting, simplified the user experience, and made it effortless for guests to explore menus, make reservations, discover upcoming events, and connect with the restaurant.

The Strategy

Rather than simply refreshing the design, the project began with a complete migration from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1, creating a stronger foundation for future growth and easier content management.

The information architecture was carefully reorganized to improve navigation and reduce friction, while the visual design was refined to better reflect the warmth, atmosphere, and lakeside dining experience that makes 1886 Lake House Bistro unique. Every page was designed to guide visitors naturally toward the information they were looking for, whether that was booking a table, browsing menus, planning a private event, or placing an online order.

The Outcome

The result is a website that feels every bit as welcoming as the restaurant itself.

With a cleaner layout, improved navigation, and a modern Squarespace 7.1 foundation, the new website provides a more intuitive experience across desktop and mobile while giving the restaurant a polished online presence that better reflects its food, atmosphere, and reputation within the community.
